they do this simply to keep the mill going. our only income is from visitors, special events and occasional donations. crabble corn mill receives no financial aid from the state and all monies raised go to the upkeep of mill and its estate. the current structure was built in 1812 alongside an existing mill which was later demolished to allow for additional storage space - what is now the exhibition area on the ground floor and the tea rooms. however, records show that there has been a mill on this site since at least 1227 when henry iii granted a charter of confirmation to st. radigund's abbey, the ruins of which can still be seen today on the hill above the village. calum forrester has kindly let us show his recent picture of the mill taken in the late evening in autumn. what we have to offer the mill is a working museum and as such shows georgian and victorian engineering excellence at work using one of natures most powerful forces - water. in 1999 the mill won the prestigious presidents award from the association for industrial archaeology. six floors of exhibits and milling machinery describe the process of turning wheat into flour, and this wholemeal flour is available for sale at the mill. the café, which is also available for private functions, serves a variety of snacks and meals and has a fully licensed bar serving a variety of beers, cider, wines and spirits. there is no admission charge to the café, although we hope you will take a tour of the mill while you are here. cider & ale festival 2018 the 11th annual cider and ale festival will be held at crabble corn mill from friday 5th to sunday 7th october 2018 and will feature 60 ciders and 30 ales from around britain. further information will be published here in due course. tickets for the friday will go on sale on 1st september 2018 and will be available on-line, from crabble corn mill, the white horse inn, the lanes micropub and the thirsty scarecrow cider house. halloween at the mill 2018 our ever popular halloween event is being held on friday 26th and saturday 27th october 2017. there will be five separate tours for children over the two days and one very special tour for adults only on the saturday evening. tickets will be on sale from 1st october on line and from the mill. read more: halloween at the mill 2018 wheels of time crabble corn mill is participating in this initiative to promote the museums of kent to a younger audiance. wheels of time is a partnership of museums and heritage sites in kent developed to promote education in history and heritage among young children. this purpose is achieved by running a scheme to encourage children, between the ages of 5 and 11, to visit museums and heritage sites in kent. visit the wheels of time website to learn more about the scheme. acoustic music nights acoustic music nights are usually held on the last friday of each month from 8:00 p.m. admission is only £2.50 per person. the licensed bar will be open selling a range of real ale, beer, cider, wines and spirits. soft drinks, tea and coffee also available. join the friends of crabble corn mill the friends is a locally organised group for people who are interested in the mill and it’s future. much work on the building and the millpond has been carried out by ‘friends’. substantial funds have also been raised towards the project and to help with running the mill. for more information about the friends and how to join click here . our flour from 100% stone-ground wholemeal flour to a variety of bread mixes all produced here at crabble corn mill and available to buy from the mill. packed as 1.5 kg bags for home use or we can do 16 kg or 25 kg sacks for the commercial baker. see our price list here . like us on facebook home find us events hospitality groups schools the trust links © crabble corn mill 2017 - all rights reserved. a joomla51.com design accept cookies ? yes wait leave provided by openglobal e-commerce
